Since our founding in 2021, California Racing Partners has had the opportunity to enjoy early success—but for us, it’s never just been about results. It’s about the journey that comes with it. Building a group of racehorses takes time, patience, and belief. Finding the right horses, developing them, and watching them grow into competitors isn’t something that happens overnight. There are highs and lows in this sport, and that’s part of what makes it so meaningful. Every race, every milestone, every step forward becomes something you’re personally connected to.
We take pride in being a boutique partnership. That means we stay selective, hands-on, and focused on creating a real experience for our partners. We often target horses at practical, approachable price points, while still keeping an eye out for special opportunities when they come along. It’s not about buying the most expensive horse—it’s about finding the right horse and enjoying the ride together. That approach has allowed us to enjoy early success as a syndicate, even with relatively modest acquisition prices. Horses like Grade 3 winner Visually (purchased for $40,000 at the OBS Two-Year-Old in Training Sale), graded stakes placed Sakura Blossom (acquired for $80,000 at the Keeneland Yearling Sale), and Grade 2 winner One More Bid (secured for $55,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Two-Year-Old in Training Sale) are examples of what’s possible when you stay disciplined and trust the process.
Our approach is guided by experience and a system we’ve developed over time, but more importantly, it’s driven by passion. We genuinely love evaluating horses, following their development, and being part of their story from the very beginning all the way to race day. And at the end of it all, that’s what this is about. It’s about cheering them on together. It’s about the anticipation leading up to a race. It’s about the connections you build along the way. Whether it’s a major stakes race or a hard-fought victory at any level, those moments are earned, shared, and celebrated together.
Beyond California Racing Partners itself, our leadership team brings a proven record at the highest levels of racing. Team members Joe Ciaglia and Larry Zap have been involved in elite campaigns including Breeders’ Cup Champion Champagne Room, Grade 1 winner We Miss Frankie, and Kentucky Derby participant and Grade 1 winner Dance With Fate, among many others.
When you partner with us, you’re not just joining a group—you’re aligning with a focused, disciplined operation built on experience, patience, and a clear vision.
